Homemade Caramel Brulee Latte
This latte is easy enough to make at home, so you can always have a fancy treat within minutes. There are several ways to make espresso at home. The first and easiest, but most expensive, is using an espresso machine. My husband and I knew we wanted an espresso machine even before getting married. We both love coffee in all its forms, French pressed, brewed from a coffee maker, and mostly espresso from our machine. If you’re a lover of barista-style drinks and buy them at your favorite coffee shop, you might want to invest in your own machine. We use ours at least once a day. The espresso machine comes with a bean grinder, so even if we are making a large pot of brewed coffee and need medium coffee grinds or coarse grinds for a French press, we can grind our beans freshly. My husband makes a double shot of espresso midway throughout the day to help get through the second part of the day, and I love a good latte using the built-in milk frother whenever possible. Basically, we love our Breville Espresso Machine; it’s one of our most used small appliances in the kitchen.

How To Make The Caramel Brulee Latte
Back to the Caramel Brulee Latte recipe. If you don’t have any machinery, no problem. You can brew a concentrated cup of coffee using dark roast or espresso grinds to get your coffee base. A simple device that makes a decent cup of espresso is a Moka Pot. The Moka Pot sits right on your stove, and when heated, the steam passes through the pot forcing the espresso into the top chamber.
To froth your milk for your Caramel Brulee Latte, an electric milk frother like this is perfect. It also comes in handy to dissolve powders into liquids. If you are really in a pinch, simply adding milk to a mason jar and shaking for about 30-60 seconds until the volume doubles. This works well too. After you shake the milk, remove the lid and heat it in the microwave, checking the temperature every 30 seconds.
To make the Brulee caramel bits, heat granulated sugar in a heavy bottom saucepan until melted and amber in color. Then pour the caramel onto a silicone baking sheet and let cool until hardened. Break the caramel into desired sized pieces and store them in an airtight container at room temperature to top other desserts like ice cream.
Assembling the Caramel Brulee Latte
Once you have your coffee brewed, add your caramel coffee syrup and vanilla extract. Pour the frothed and heated milk into your espresso and top with homemade whipped cream, caramel sauce, and your Brulee caramel bits. Enjoy this Caramel Brulee Latte with a thick slice of Lemon Loaf, and enjoy your homemade Starbucks order!
