Rich Spooky Chocolatey Dessert
This Spider Web Oreo Bark has become a new permanent Halloween treat in our house. Don’t let the simplicity of this dessert fool you; this bark has a sophisticated taste that ghosts and ghouls of any age will enjoy. As the dark chocolate sets around the Oreo cookies, it becomes almost a fudgy consistency. So yummy! Feel free to mix up the flavors of the cookies and chocolate you want to use. Oreo’s are available in many varieties, especially fun seasonal flavors, so feel free to mix them up with different chocolates. Cut the bark into random shapes and set them out on your table for a spooky surprise.
Ingredients For Spider Web Oreo Bark
- Oreo cookies- I used the Thins because I didn’t want the bark to be too thick.
- Semi-sweet chocolate and white chocolate- Either a good quality morsel or baker’s chocolate are great options.
- Oil for melting- I used vegetable oil, but coconut oil is great too. It slightly thins the chocolate and allows it to melt smoother.
Helpful Tools For Spiderweb Oreo Bark
- Nesting bowls– I use a large bowl over my saucepan with about 1-2 inches of water as a double boiler to melt the chocolate.
- 9×9 inch square baking pan– You could defiently use an 8×8 inch pan without needing to adjust the measurements of the ingredients. The bark will just be a little thicker.
- Parchment paper– Line the baking pan with the parchment to easily remove the bark when it has set.
- Piping bag– I used a piping bag to add the swirls of the white chocolate for the spider web.
Easy Spider Web Oreo Bark
Start by lining the bottom of your baking dish with parchment paper. If you are using a 9×9 inch pan, cut 9 of your Oreo’s in half, arrange them around the perimeter, and fill in the rest of the space with your whole cookies.
Making a double boiler by using a glass bowl over a saucepan filled with about 2 inches of water, start to melt the chocolate for the spider webs. In my case, it’s white chocolate. As the chocolate starts to soften, drizzle with oil and stir until the chips have melted. Turn the heat off and pour the white chocolate into the piping bag and twist shut. Melt the semi-sweet chocolate to glossy and smooth and pour over the Oreos. Spread evenly with a spatula.
Snip the piping bag about a millimeter in size, and make a swirled pattern on the surface of the chocolate and Oreos. Drag a toothpick from the center of the swirl to the outside, creating your spider web design.
Pop in the refrigerator, let the bark set in about an hour or two, then lift out of the pan and slice into random shapes.
Enjoy this decadent Spider Web Oreo Bark with your favorite Halloween cocktail.
